OUGD602 / Work Experience

For my work experience, I wanted to do something with my hands that would be crafty. Over Easter I worked in a carpenter's workshop for a week helping with certain tasks - this is a self-employed independent business.

I had to colour up these little snuff boxes matching the colour exactly to make the box all even. As well as this I fixed the lid so it ran smoothly through the grooves.

I enjoyed this week of work experience as it allowed me to see how a self-employed (manual) business is run and what it's like. I found it very satisfying to work just with my hands for the week (no computer), this runs off the idea from what I was studying for CoP - the importance of making and using our hands!

I would like to potentially set up my own business where I can make and sell my own creations.

Below are the led pigments used for the colouring.
