OUGD502 / Weaving & Pom-poms

To carry on exploring design within a more hands on sense, I have been weaving - I plan on developing this and improving as I go along, possibly selling them once I get better. I have also been making pom poms and am planning on making a garlands out of them, sewing them onto pillows, etc.

I have set up a few blogs across a few platforms. I have put some photos on their which has turned into a hobby - I've really been enjoying learning the difference between digital and film and exploring this with the two mediums.

OUGD502 / Self Branding / Business cards

I have thought to use some of my already existing prints for the design on my business cards. By screen printing one of these to achieve the bright colours and to demonstrate the style I want to convey, I can then cut up the print in to business cards, so every card will have a segment of the design on the back. 

I want the front of the card to be fairly stripped back and minimal as this will then balance out the bright design on the back. 

The typeface I am using is Apercu. This is a clear, simple sans serif and is a typeface I use a lot in my work. It communicates how I can also work in a striped back, minimal style. My name is in capitals and the rest is in title case / lower case. This represents the hierarchy of the information on the card. The type was going to be all uppercase however when bringing lowercase in it gives a friendlier tone of voice.

OUGD502 / Getting in touch with design studios

I have been in touch with a graphic designer who used to study at Leeds College of Art who has worked in Norwich (where I live). Through contacting him I have discovered a few graphic design studios in Norwich, I have written letters to them asking if I could pop in over Easter or before. I am hoping this could potentially lead to an internship / placement of some sort over summer.

OUGD502 / Studio Brief 01 / Creative Report / Hand written type

Hand rendered type has been created to give a hands on feel. 

This was created by hand drawing out the type in a felt tip pen, scanning it in to the computer, image tracing the type and then tweaking it in Illustrator.

This type reflects Nous Vous's creative nature and links to their illustrative, personal style. For the title digital typefaces were also experimented with however as I want these small cards to look like post cards and to be in an envelope, the hand written type felt more appropriate as it is more like a hand written letter.
