OUGD502 / Studio Brief 01 / Creative Report / Nous Vous Research

These are some images of the work created by Nous Vous found on their blog, the work created for the creative report should reflect Nous Vous's style. They use a lot of playful colours, hand rendered type, there's a continuous theme of shape and collage throughout their designs also. 

Initial ideas are to create a small publication similar to the one below as they seem to make a lot of small, personal feeling books like this. Or a series of riso prints on coloured stock (to achieve bright colours), or a small riso printed book, however this may be expensive. Another idea is to create a series of letters as this reflects the personal feel in their work.

This illustration demonstrates the way in which we work as a group. Charlie is the roots, Megan is the stems and I am the gel.

After making an origami plant and placing it onto an Illustrator file, it was then traced over to create a digital version. However this looked too complex for a logo. Different ideas were then experimented with using type and simple shapes.

Target market - environmentally conscious people who are interested in design / need something designed. 

Competition- other design studios in Leeds.

Structure of studio - We all see the client face to face, then take it to the crit box, where we figure out what aspects of the brief are most appropriate for each of us.

Promotion - social media, designing for environment, leave prints / cards in design hot spots. We will do talks on how our studio works and also provide a riso printer to offer as a service. 

USP - We are completely environmentally friendly, working in mostly analogue ways to achieve unique designs. 

Recourses - Screen printing, mono printing, riso printing, litho printing, lino, letter press, lazer cut, stamp, wax printing, embossing, foiling. 

We design also on screen.

Work we will create - editorial, promotion, packaging, branding, 3D / set, art direction, photography, exhibition curation.

Manifesto: environmentally friendly - 'clean' prints. Hands on presentation will attempt to show our analogue work ethic. 

Future plans: Expand globally, provide riso printing service (as we are planning to riso print), exhibitions. 

Origami represents our hands rendered approach to design, which is why paper plant / leaf objects were created, to mimic the aloe vera plant. This was then attempted to be made digitally on Illustrator, however the digital version doesn't look like aloe vera.
