OUGD602 / Live Brief / Noughties Club Night

I have been asked to create the branding for a Noughties themed club night called 'Naughties'.

Clients words:

'What we would like:
- Cover Photo
- Profile Picture
- Logo - N00’s
- A3 Poster design (Any date, Faversham, £3 entry, Naughties, logo, silhouetted S Club 7 on it)
- We’d like a minimalistic design with neutral colours like the album artwork below. The music that we’re going to be playing will be of that era as well (starting off with pop music from 95 – 05 then slowly progressing into club classics e.g. moloko, daft punk, modjo etc.), so we’d like the design to reflect that.'

Research:

I initially came up with this. However after asking for feedback from the client they said they want something that looks like it was actually designed in the noughties. What I had done was a contemporary take on the era.

I found this a struggle as I had to create something I visually didn't like, however it was a good learning curve.

Ideas / Development

(Big struggle...... what they were asking for was for it to look purposely bad.... really difficult as I really didn't like what I was designing)

Final designs:

This was a very challenging brief and was initially very out of my comfort zone, however I think it has taught me to detatch myself from this kind of work and think of it as utising my skills to suit any clients needs.

The client are very happy with the finished outcome and have asked me to design more for the club night in the future.

OUGD602 / Ceramic insense holders

I have made around 7 ceramic insense holders (only one pictured below as rest were given away for Christmas presents).

These were hand-molded and painted. I kept all of them fairly consistent, varying from 4 different colour combinations all with this splatter / speckled effect over the top.
